Meet the Maker

A scenic mountain landscape featuring snow-capped peaks and a clear blue sky.

Evelyn Mackintosh is a Scottish artist working in south west Scotland in Dumfries and Galloway. She was born on the east coast and grew up in Edinburgh and East Lothian. With both sets of grandparents originating in the Highlands and Islands she was fortunate to be taken on family holidays visiting relatives in some of Scotland's most beautiful and remote places where she was forever trying to capture the grandeur of the mountains and impatience of the sea with her paints.

Despite her love of painting, working life followed a very different direction, firstly in agriculture then in nursing but the paintbrush was always to hand on holidays and days off.

Oil paints are her preferred and favourite medium but in the past twelve years she has explored and enjoyed the delicacy of watercolours. She has exhibited both here in the UK and in Switzerland, and currently her work can be found
in PA Pop Up, in the Mill on the Fleet, Gatehouse of Fleet, and various other venues in Dumfries and Galloway.
